SOA: The Progress you Make Depends on Where you Start
Speaker: Jack Calhoun
Best Practices Track, talk 1
|
Despite decades of reengineering, large companies still have problems aligning their business operations and priorities with their IT agenda. SOA now offers a more effective and flexible way to model and develop software but in order for the business to benefit from the advantages of SOA — the business must take a fresh look at their operations.
Jack Calhoun is the co-author of the recent Harvard Business Review Article entitled The Next Revolution in Productivity, which features the case study of how SOA contributed to the turn-around of Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare , now #1 commercial health plan in America according to a joint ranking by U.S. News and World Report and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Jack will examine the techniques and benefits of capability based business modeling as a precursor to developing a SOA agenda and an IT Plan.
